Update Alpha 8.3: Tutorial Research Notes
I feel like I wrote a WHOOOOOOOLE lot of text for this update and yet it's still hard to call it a content update. Obviously, there is still new content in here, but the big thing is really the thing in the screenshot.
In general, I've been getting people asking for the ability to review information from the tutorial without having to restart their run since even before the first public version of the game was released. So here it is.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue where Chaos was being calculated incorrectly.
- Fixed a formatting error in the initial Shield Maid spawn event.
- Fixed the event summary text for the maid (♂) flee event.
- Fixed the missing requirement of Grace applications for The Beat Goes On.
- Moved Exhaustion gain for Combat to AFTER damage calculation (matches with Disarm, which has the intended order of things).
- ONCE AGAIN made a change to make known Curses start as revealed when gained from a Shrine.
- Skill scroll popups are no longer affected by room lighting effects.
- Fixed searching for Skills/Curses in the Research Notes menu crashing the game.
- Fixed Weakness of Mind Curse not being flagged to be rollable as a Shrine blessing.
- Fixed a bug where effects that are meant to remove all Status Effects with a certain Tag would attempt to remove ALL Status Effects with that Tag even if the character doesn't have them (this would cause effects that trigger on losing a status like Weal and Woe Curse to trigger when they shouldn't have).
- Fixed the click and hold to set destination shortcut working when it shouldn't have
Balance:
- Skills:
- Split Brawler
- Raine's exclusive Brawler Skill had 2 separate effects, either of which would be justifiable to take individually. Putting them together, you wind up with a no-brainer 1 point wonder. In order to help out Lucette's poor exclusive Skill options, I've split Brawler into 2 Skills, giving one to Raine and one to Lucette.
- Brawler: 15% of base Physique is dealt as bonus damage to Monsters the character Attacks. Exclusive to Raine. (Rank 1 requires Well Rested, Rank 2 does not)
- Combat Veteran: Exhaustion gain from Attacking is decreased by 1. Exclusive to Lucette. (Rank 1 requires Well Rested, Rank 2 does not)
- Raine's exclusive Brawler Skill had 2 separate effects, either of which would be justifiable to take individually. Putting them together, you wind up with a no-brainer 1 point wonder. In order to help out Lucette's poor exclusive Skill options, I've split Brawler into 2 Skills, giving one to Raine and one to Lucette.
- Reworked/Buffed First Aid
- While I like the Skill thematically, using it is not very impactful for how much of a point sink it is. It's been changed to mitigate that.
- First Aid: Support Skill. When this character or an ally in the same room takes Injury damage, applies a buff that heals back [50%/75%] of the damage taken after [4/5] turns. This effect is cancelled on taking more Injury damage.
- No longer exclusive to Lucette, instead requiring a Moderate Drive for Community and Success.
- Removed Bedside Manner
- Rolled into First Aid
- Buffed Infusion/Stimulant
- The Rank 2 Immunity buffs from these Skills are no longer lost when First Aid is lost. They instead last indefinitely and give one time immunity to the associated debuff before being removed.
- Buffed Spellsword
- An attempt to make it somewhat less of a black hole of all Charge stacks (although it definitely still requires a source of Charge)
- Ranks 1/2/3: Deals 10% of current Willpower per stack of Charge that this character has when attacking a monster (max [10%/20%/30%] for [1/2/3] stack(s)). Defeating a monster consumes 1 stack of Charge.
- Split Brawler
- Spells:
- Scry cooldown now ticks down per turn rather than per action.
- Added a New Game+ option to retain up to 2 Spells from your previous run.
- Reduced the time taken when preparing Spells to only 1 time slot.
- It is now possible to pass out from lack of sleep when preparing Spells.
Edit: Some of the bug fixes didn't make it into the build correctly. If you downloaded this version within the first 8 hours of it being up, you may want to redownload it if you want the fixes for the Shield Maid spawn event, already researched shrine curses not being revealed, and skill scrolls being affected by dungeon lighting.
Edit 2: Also the tutorial was broken. This has now been fixed.
